“I noticed that the kids got more enthusiastic about books and reading throughout the program. I think they also benefited from the individual attention.”
If you believe that everyone in society deserves the opportunity to achieve their literacy goals, you share our vision.
READ has worked very hard to involve community members in our work. We are proud to report that volunteers support all aspects of the Society. Volunteers support teachers in community-based programs; provide additional reading support in some classes, work in bookkeeping, reception and administration, social media, event planning and logistics.
People who volunteer with READ come from diverse backgrounds and ages. What do they have in common… they’re passionate about learning, they have great ideas and they have fun (at least that’s what they tell us n the exit surveys)!
READ would not be having the positive impact it does on the community without volunteers.
All volunteers with the READ Society must have an up-to-date Criminal Record Check. We will help you through this process.
Members of the READ Society actively support the Vision, Mission, Values and Working Principles of the Society and pay the annual membership dues.
Members vote at the Annual General meeting and at Special Meetings; receive advance notice of READ activities and play a variety of volunteer roles in the Society.
By being a member you are part of a Society that transforms lives across the community.
